Give a Woman A Break!

Only a mother can be a loving yet fierce warrior!
She does whatever it takes to protect her own,
Even in the face of glaring death,
She does not fret…

Earlier today, my mother was robbed at gun point!
Three men needed to be armed to the tooth;
To forcefully rob a middle aged woman!
Thank God she survived the attack.

I’ve had it with men all over acting like animals!
Grow a pair and a brain to compliment the pair,
How do you expect to be respected, when all day;
You just push women around!

This is my mother land; key word being 'mother',
Yet a woman cannot feel safe in her own skin,
Let alone her house, neighborhood or country!
This is simply too much to bear…

When they are not trying to kill you,
Then they’re busy robbing from you,
Tearing the life you’ve built apart,
Taking from you…forcefully!

I think that we girls should stick together,
Advice and take care of each other,
Look out for each other,
And love each other.

This is a celebration of all mothers,
Without you; we wouldn’t be,
Thanks to you; we survived,
This is a celebration of women!

RAIN DROPS

Rain drops tapping on my window,
So sweet is their rhythmic sound,
That drowns the screams away.

Rain drops drumming on the ground,
Little puddles that sooth my feet,
This lonely path knows no end.

Rain drops streaming down my face,
Nature’s gold sipping through my skin,
Wash away the tears & refresh my soul.

Rain drops sneaking down my bosom,
See them rush down my back,
This euphoria is contagious!

Rain drops bursting all over the place,
My walk broke into a sprint of passion;
I sprouted wings and flew off to paradise!

A MOMENT OF SILENCE

Everyday Kenyans die,
May they rest in peace.

Today, Kenyans died;
At the same spot,
On the same day,
In the same way...

This has happened for the last three years!

Coincidence?

Melodic Memories

This song
It takes me back
Back to those days
Those chilled out days
Life was a breeze
No hustles; No problems
So blissful; so sweet
Unadulterated sweetness
Miniskirts and skinny jeans
Smiles and smooches
Huffin’ and puffin’
Drinks on the daily
The never ending party

This song
It takes me back
To the gaze of your eyes
To the melody of your voice
To the scent of your being
To the warmth of your arms
To the sweetness of your lips
The caress of your breath
The intensity of your passion

This song,
It blows my mind!
Or should I say,
The memories of you;
Wrapped in this song
Blow my mind!

Love and Other Elements

Soul of mine wonders off
To fetch my spirit song
In gust she rushes
Caresses his spirit
Returns the favour with warm embraces
So sweet is the rhythm
That his heart drums
So electrifying, the feeling
Magnetic forces drawing
Our souls together
To interact,dance & intertwine,
Raw and untamed; is this energy …
Your charms; so intoxicating
Your eyes; they hypnotize me
This madness; so infectious
My sanity smoothly usurped!
Disarmed me with your gaze
Rays of love dancing upon me
So brilliant is their glow
Sparks evolve into fires
Hear the passionate crackles
Of this raging flames
Sanctify me with your love
No longer can I fight it!

Misguided passions!

So this where it all leads?
All those paths to the ‘promised land’
My boots are worn out and so dust; my spirit slowly dwindling
This portrait they painted in my mind; is anything but forthcoming
An illness of the mind! Nothing but delusions and hallucinations
It must be the fairy tales! The soap operas too
And those amazing movies; lies! All lies…
I’ve been brain washed by the box!

I now find myself at this crossroads
Wondering if I took a wrong turn somewhere!
People must get lost all the time trying to find their promised land
Plus I suppose my map reading skills are also a bit off
So here I am in this lonely place
Trying to rationalize all the ‘uninformed decisions’
And possible wrong turns I may have taken
Maybe a drink will help lubricate my train of thought
I suppose the cogs and bolts need some oiling
What better to do the job than some liquor!
Off to the ‘watering hole’!

Denial is a sweet paradise
Some of that drunken advice & sharing
To lift your spirit and revive your zeal for life
That moment when you realize you’re not alone
In your lost and confused path to the ‘promised land’
Yes I’ll definitely drink to ‘safety in numbers’
Why not drown my sorrows in the bottle
Wake up the next morning feeling dead
Cry a river and drown myself in it too
Pray and wait in baited breath for a miracle
Or some of that manna from heaven!

In addition to being lost and confused,
I’m now broke, hungry and hanged over!
On the bright side my friends from the watering hole
Were ‘philanthropic’ enough to allow me,
My phone and my wallet enjoy a longer relationship
*How unnatural *
Get distracted for a split second and you’ll be robbed blind!
Those bastards would even steal you and sell you to the pirates!
*sigh* (back to my current situation)

Now that I’m lost, confused, hunger, broke and sickly
And I’m done drowning in my own tears
Mostly because the part of my memory
That isn’t totally erased from last night’s debauchery
Keeps reminding me that after the drunk sharing and advice session
My zeal was revived and my-promised land-map-reading skills refreshed!
It’s time to take the courageous thirty minute cold shower
That will hopefully wake you remaining cells!
Learn from the past; shine ‘em boots and keep walking
The simple truth is: life will give you blow after blow
The most important bit; is the part where you stand up
Dust yourself and move along swiftly; as if nothing happened…
Hopefully you’re keen enough to see the next blow
Before it land squarely on your face!
How sweet it is to be fully immersed in this life;
Such a joy to drown willingly in its passions …

The NEWS & Other Horrors!

So this is what we've been reduced to; People who watched their nation fall apart! or are we just generally in denial? I think that we just stopped caring! Today I watched the most horrific show; it's known as the NEWS: I learned some grim fact about my country:

In the year 2012 some Kenyan children were learning under trees & rocks! In response to this issue the relevant leaders, such as;Alfred Khang'ati, didn't seem to understand the gravity of the matter and even proceeded to state that he didn't in fact think it was a big deal that the kids are studying under a rock because he too studied under a tree! Please note that the guy wan born in 1954 meaning he was studying under a tree in the late 1950s, we are in 2012 and he thinks this is in order! It's no surprise that his constituencies CDF performance is so suspect; http://info.mzalendo.com/person/alfred-khangati/

We have leaders saying that it's not about the money its the alarming rise in population;granted that our population growth rate of 10% while the economic growth is only at 4%! keep in mind that not to long ago the IEBC asked for 31.5 Billion to fund the coming elections! Talk about misplaced priorities! Mean while, the men in fancy suits insist on constructing a road in our precious national park!!! The saddest bit is the child in a in a christian school in Kasarani, who was made to drink a cup full of his classmates saliva! eeewww! That teacher should be jailed! And as if this is not enough; some poor calf was today buried alive in Murang'a in a bid to appease the spirit of a dead man; who in my opinion, is simply greedy and vindictive! Wanting a replacement cow as one died on its way to pay his nieces bride price! And that family, did it really have to end like that?! Imagine how confused and scared the poor calf was getting buried alive! I wonder what went down when they met up in the after life!

The news today was in deed a painful experience! As we sit back and watch a few insensitive people set our nation ablaze; we must ask ourselves- is this the nation we want to live in? Why do we let a few greedy yet thick people misuse us like this?!
