Chapter 3: Lips of Tate

Fast as her feet could bear her weight ran the girl; through the trees and the boulders in this hell of wilderness she’d found herself in. This running needs to stop! She thought to herself, but deep down she knew a life devoid of thrills is just not viable! As she sped through the trees she could feel the breeze getting stronger and unusually clingy-like being trapped in the middle of a whirl-wind! An even stranger feeling came over her; like she was running on a bed of air, as she looked down to confirm that her feet were still grounded she could barely believe what eyes beheld- her feet were not only well off the ground; she was also miles off the comfort of the earth! Panic stricken-heart racing she lost all control to the point of tripping. It was quite funny this feeling of falling forward into nothingness and then floating through the air as if in a dream, which was quickly cut short by the horrifying feeling of helplessness in the free fall that followed! Faster and faster she rushed closer to the ground; the harsh realities to grim to bear she shut her eyes and waited to crush into the earth and hopefully swiftly enter the next life. The moment to kiss the earth ever so heavily not forthcoming; she opened her eyes and to her amazement she was flying through the air in a manner quite controlled and intended through trees, over the lake and creatures of the earth then finally she lands softly upon her feet when she quickly realized she was too to light headed to stand as she keeled over immediately! As her head hit the ground she watched him materialize from whirl wind, he slowly spun into stillness and faced her; he had this suggestive look and wore a sheepish smile that didn’t even fade as he mouthed his words “I am the wind, watch me dance…” then spun off into nothingness!
Quite startled; the girl woke up in a fright, she found herself in her little make-shift shelter surrounded by darkness and now shivering from all the sweat gone cold. That dream was just too real to be ignored. She took a short walk to the stream right by her shelter and slowly walked in to its cold gently flowing water; a swim always calms the nerves and relaxes the mind, she thought to herself. She swam for a while till she heard the wind howling through the trees and roughing up the leaves as it rushed by, she looked around for signs of human life but it was just the trees, the creatures of the night and the full moon. She walked off the stream and went into her shelter to try and get some rest before the break of dawn; just as she was slowly entering a state of slumber she heard some voices not so far off. Voices in the heated rhythm of an argument; sounded like two males and one females, on and on they went at each other. The voices knew no relent, out of curiosity she stepped out of her shelter to go closer and see what the excitement was all about. As she snuck through the bushes she could hear the voices escalate to beastly aggression; twas quite a quick fight in which one of the males attacked and from the hauls probably injuring the other then taking off to let the third party handle the victim. At this point the girl had a mind to turn back and head for her shelter as the aggressor was clearly at large! As she softly treaded back to her shelter; she was surprised by something flying off the dark bush and pouncing on her! This monstrous creature that looked like a cross between the most unnatural beings above her clearly contemplating murder! Too shocked to move or even defend herself from this thing that she still could not fathom; and its nerve to still be chocking her to the point of delirium then took the liberty to claw her from her neck to down to her chest right above her heart, then left her for the grim reaping angel of death! As the blood sipped from near lifeless body into the earth; she sunk into a deep unconsciousness that very closely bordered death.
When she awoke; she found herself in dense darkness on a rock by the river, judging by the crescent moon she’d been out for a number of days! And she had this crazy thirst that needed to be quenched instantly, how convenient to have a river at my disposal. As the stood she could feel the breeze caress her shoulder as it passed by; she thought nothing of this, so she walked to the eddy she knelt down and cupped her hands to collect some water and she drunk greedily at first then on the next hand full she was a bit more controlled. As she bent over to take the third she noticed her shadow in the water; more importantly she noticed that the iris in both her eyes glowed in the dark and reflected in the water! Very startled she fell back to ponder what she had just seen; something most unnatural had happened to her! Was she even alive? She wondered as her mind raced through all possibilities! Then she felt the breeze sneak up on her, round and round it spun around her; suddenly the stone from the sun, the marks from the moon, the earth beneath her feet and the wind around her seemed to connect her to a beautiful reality! The gates of wisdom had flung open and solved the mysteries of her existence and lack of identity; like falling into a sea of wisdom and drowning in its awesomeness! When she stepped out of the trance, she noticed the while wind again; and without fail she watched him materialize from whirl wind, he slowly spun into stillness and faced her; he had this suggestive look and wore a sheepish smile that didn’t even fade as he mouthed his words “I am the wind, watch me dance…” then spun off into nothingness then as the breeze went past her, “won’t you come dance with me?” it whispered into her ear then rushed on.
