The Moonrock

This beautiful song of the sea; the rise and fall of its body in a manner most calming, the loud whispers of the wind rushing over the water is just phenomenal, for most people I suppose because currently there’s a boy intensely hurling his guts out into the sea! In deed the beauty of the sea is not for everybody’s eyes or should I say that it’s not meant for the faint hearted.
It’s well after dinner; some fellas on the yacht are making merry with some rum, other passengers are first asleep while the sea sick victim is in the corner experiencing the shakes with a bucket close at hand, judging from the look on his face, he must be cursing the whole experience. Meanwhile, the girl is on deck star gazing and wondering about this journey; how long it’s been and how many more days it will take before she gets to the island where she’d consult the old oracle about the whereabouts of the Moonrock among other burning issues. Much as nature guides it seeker, the seeker needs to hunt down information like some valuable treasure chest. In deed knowledge is power.
“Enough stargazing and fantasizing, better get some rest for tomorrow is another day.” Thought the girl
She walked over to her sleeping quarters and quietly slipped into bed so as not to wake the rest. The rocking of the boat was quite soothing and before she knew it; she had floated way into dreamland. Her dreams were filled with funny creatures of the sea, some seemingly extinct, the moon looking so lovely in its silver glow stroked the waters in a manner so graceful and the wind sweetly swayed the trees. She ran across the white sand bare foot playing with the waters and the peculiar crabs; everything at this moment was simply beautiful. She lunged forward to grab a huge crab and as she played with the strange creature she noticed the wind seemed to blow with a certain fury; as is somebody had angered it! She turned around to face the sea and everything had simply flipped around! Dark clouds now hid the moon, the wind was screaming like a banshee and there were humongous waves rushing towards her; she could almost make out ghostly faces with hollow eyes and a monstrous moth from the tides gaining on her! She quickly took to her heals faster and faster she ran but suddenly she was swallowed by the sea, her eyes now wide open to the disappointment of the reality; this was not a dream! They were shipwrecked! All she saw was chaos, broken bits and pieces everywhere. She had to get to the surface! She swam up and on her way she could taste blood in the water; ‘hopefully the sharks are asleep tonight’ she thought as she swam up. It seemed like ages but finally she got to the top. Soon as she took her first breath of air she realized just what a disaster this was; people screaming, others were dying, everything strewn all over, a right mess this was! A young man was pointing at her with a horrific look on his face, she followed his gaze and as soon as she realized what he was motioning at; it was too late! A cylindrical object came crushing down her head and she could feel herself sinking deeper and deeper into cold dark unconsciousness.
Sounds of the beach intruded in her dreams causing to awake; there she was lying on the beach with the waves crushing on her feet. And she had this massive headache, like a mallet pounding on her head!
“Argh! Where I’m I?” she wondered
Sitting up slowly, she scanned the area just to see a young man some meters away from her and clearly still unconscious. She willed herself to stand up and slowly walked over to him, it seemed like forever before she finally reached him then nudged him softly with her foot; he didn’t respond. She shoved him a bit harder and still no response! At this point knowing it was just too much energy to kneel down and wake him up yet getting a bit agitated by his unresponsiveness; she braced her self and gave a kick on his back side to which he woke up ready to fight!
He restrained himself and took a moment to gather his thoughts.
“You!” He exclaimed! “ I save your life and you repay me by kicking me around!”
“ Saved my life from what exactly?” She asked
“You really don’t remember getting shipwrecked and getting a parts of the mast land upon your head?” He got amused
“Well that explains the pains in my head!” She thought out loud “ so where are we?”
“Search me!” he teased “You’re the one who’s feeling at home and even kicking everything around this place!”
“So how about we take a walk around the place and discover where we are?” He asked her
“Might as well, It’ll be dark in a few hours” she replied “better get some shelter and a bite!”
“What’s your name?” he asked?
“I don’t have one!” she said, “ what’s your name?”
“What do you mean you don’t have one!” he mocked, “everyone has a name, even inanimate objects have names!”
“I just wasn’t given one,” she explained, “When the time is right I shall get it!”
“I think the blow to your head really messed you up but I’ll play along!” he continued mocking, “Oh by the way my name is Imani.”
“I’m just a girl” she said “Just a girl trying to find her path.”
He gave her a long searching look and he could see the sincerity in her eyes. So the walked about the beach studying the area till they found a path that lead into a forest; they followed the path for a couple of hours and it came into a bit of a clearing where other paths joined in; a sort of junction. The stood there arguing over which path to take while suddenly a reptilian creature flew over them and made the most horrid screams ever! Obviously shaken the both took for the forest to hide from this horrible creature! They ran till they came across a sort of Liana canopy that made a great hiding place! So under it they dove and waited. All seemed quiet for a while so they decided to come out and confirm that the creature was gone.
“What on earth was that?” The girl asked
“I have no idea” Imani mumbled, “ I think we need to get out of here”
“Its almost dark!” she shrieked! “Might as well spend the night and get going tomorrow.”
“I think we can make it back to the beach” he insisted, “I remember the way”
“Ok” we should rush then!
So they rushed through the peculiar jungle till the came to the clearing, at the clearing he seemed to hesitate at first then he took up one of the paths!
“I don’t think we came this way” she aired he concerns! “Nothing looks familiar!”
“All I see is plants and bugs!” he retorted “it looks quite familiar to me, so lets keep going!”
She was just about to put up a fight when they had the most melodious voice beckon them!
“She’s right you know,” said the voice “ you are going the wrong way”
“Who’s there?” Imani asked in a very shaky voice
Then an unbelievably gorgeous lady popped out from behind the thicket! She spoke tenderly in a voice so melodious and her eyes we a strange shade of grey; as if she could see into ones soul! And this being the peculiar forest, our gorgeous lady was obviously in her birthday suit!
“I think you forgot your cloths,” yelled the girl
“I don’t understand”, Said the lady “ what is this about cloths?”
“They are used to cover ones nakedness!” responded the girl
“We have no need for that here, you should try it sometime” said the lady “ anyway, I can show you the way out of here”
“What’s you name?” asked Imani
“They call me Lithia” rolled out the response sweetly
“See, even the strange lady has a name,” teased Imani
“Can we get going before it gets any darker?” The girl insisted!
The urgency in her voice was well clear! As they walked; a familiar feeling came over her, that gut feeling with all the warning bells ringing. She had a battle within herself; knowing her instincts are always right but trying to be the accommodating lost visitor who needs to be directed in this endless jungle! So she walked along knowing that at any moment something rather surprising will jump out and attack them.
As the walked deeper into the woods it got much darker! She couldn’t contain herself anymore.
“Lithia I have a feeling that this is not the way out!” She said
“Oh you worry too much” responded Lithia
“I refuse to go any further” The girl insisted
“Come on you can’t turn back now,” said Imani
“Yes I can” Said the girl “You just watch me”
As soon as she took a few steps back, Lithia pounced at her in a manner so unnatural! My goodness the woman sprouted wings and scales due to the rush of a kill!
“Oh my goodness” Yelled Imani, “you’re the creature!”
